Cats in Bloom

Volunteers make all the difference in the lives of the cats and in the smooth running of the Cats in Bloom café! We need volunteers for a variety of tasks. The cat cafe is open Thursday - Sunday; 1:00pm - 5:00pm and the first Friday of each month; 1:00pm - 8:00pm.

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by a responsible adult.

If you are not at least 17 years old, both individuals must complete a form. 

In addition to the form, you will need to complete a waiver. Anyone under the age of 17 must have a parent sign the waiver. Volunteer information and forms can be accessed here.

The Good Samaritan Mission

The Good Samaritan Mission endeavors to follow, and derives its name from, the teaching of Christ’s parable of the Good Samaritan. Their focus is service to our economically disadvantaged neighbors. They seek to meet their material needs by offering a “cup of cold water” in Christ’s name through the provision of free clothing, appliances, hygiene items, winter boots, socks and underwear, meals, uniforms, and financial assistance in crisis situations.  They likewise seek to meet their spiritual needs through prayer, informal counseling, and verbal and written explanations of the Gospel of Christ. There are numerous volunteer opportunities available. As a non-profit, The Bloomsburg Children’s Museum depends on volunteers! They are always in need of volunteer help, so don’t hesitate to contact them to learn more!

Museum Volunteer Guidelines

  • Be reliable in attendance and punctual

  • Be 15 years or older

  • Abide by Museum policies

  • Attend training required for your volunteer position (if applicable)

  • Collaborate with staff and other volunteers

  • Obtain a child abuse history clearance and criminal background check

  • Be ready to have fun!

Application Process

Applications are accepted at all times and will remain on file. Volunteer applicants will be interviewed and positioned according to the Museum’s needs and the volunteer’s skills and interests.

Each day at the Y, families come together to get healthier. Children engage in physical activities, learn social skills, and build confidence. Seniors are developing more active, productive lives while meeting others with shared interests and passions. It all happens at the Y each day.

There are numerous, ongoing, volunteer opportunities available including babysitters, groundskeeping, minor maintenance, and youth sport coaches just to name a few! Camp Victory

Volunteers are a vital part of Camp Victory!  Each year, over 1,000 wonderful people volunteer their time and talents in many different ways. From being a counselor or painting cabins to baking pies and building shelves, the volunteer opportunities are many and varied!

Each week from April through October, our partner camps host camp sessions by condition. For example, there are separate weeks for children with cancer, spina bifida, diabetes, or brain injuries, as well as weekend sessions for families touched by autism. Plus, several more.

Volunteering at Camp Victory makes a real difference in the lives of their special campers!

Bloomsburg Community Creek Fall Float and Cleanup

Come join the Bloomsburg Community Creek Cleanup on September 21st for a fall float and cleanup!

We’ll be starting at Hoffman Natural Area and floating down towards Rupert Covered Bridge, picking up trash along the way. Bring your own paddleboard, kayak, or canoe, and please dress appropriately for the weather!

Not into floating? No worries! We also need volunteers on land to clean up our popular creekside spots like Hoffman Natural Area, Bloom Beach, Rupert Covered Bridge, and Fernville Park to keep our favorite places clean for the colder months. They are in desperate need of some TLC before the year ends.

This will be our LAST creek cleanup of the season. We will do one more cleanup along Creek Road in October for anyone who can’t make our float!

Canned Food Drive Collection

From September 15–25, 2025, Ken Pollock Ford will be collecting canned and non-perishable food items at their Berwick location, 1120 W Front Street, Berwick, PA 18603. These donations will directly benefit local families, helping to fight hunger right here at home. The food drive kicks off during the dealership’s 6th Annual Car Show, held on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

  • Proposal Deadline: October 1, 2025

  • Notification of Selection: Within 2 weeks of deadline

  • Installation Period: Summer 2026

  • Display Duration: Up through Fall 2026.

  • Artworks may be adopted by local organizations or removed and responsibly disposed of after display.

After proposals are accepted, the Trash to Treasure group will meet with the chosen artists to align on a cohesive message.

All materials must be sourced from trash – ideally collected through our community cleanup events – though artists may incorporate other recycled or low-impact elements that have been collected in our region. A supply of collected materials will be made available by appointment. Artists are encouraged to take place in local community cleanups to identify items for use in sculptures.

Montour County Tire Clean Up

The Derry Township Building at 26 Shed Rd, Danville is another drop-off site for this event. You must pre-register for this event by August 27th. Call Montour County Zoning @ 570-271-3021 or Montour County Conservation District @ 570-271-1140 to register. Pre-registered cost is $2 per tire. Day of registration is $3 per tire. Car and truck tires only. No tractor tires. All tires must be clean. Valid ID as proof of Montour county residency required.
