Trash Transformed

The Exchange, in collaboration with the Bloomsburg Community Creek Cleanup, the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau, The Bloomsburg Children’s Museum, the Columbia County Conservation District, Berwick Arts Association, and the Montour Area Recreation Commission, invites artists to participate in Trash Transformed, a public art project designed to raise environmental awareness through artistic reuse. Using materials collected from local river and land cleanups, selected artists will create compelling outdoor sculptures to be temporarily installed across Columbia and Montour Counties.

Artists are invited to repurpose trash into compelling works of art that highlight the effects of litter and pollution on the environment—particularly our waterways. The aim is to encourage viewers to thoughtfully consider their consumption and waste habits in a positive, non-confrontational manner. We are especially interested in large, high-visibility installations (approximately the size of a phone booth), though we welcome other creative concepts as well.

Funds available for this project: $5,000 total
