I'm thrilled to present our first Good Neighbor Award to the incredible Bloomsburg Community Creek Cleanup team. Led by dedicated organizer Tanya Nebroski, along with passionate volunteers David Otto Kurecian, Jacob & Miranda Moser, and Jared & Victoria Mench, this hardworking group is making a lasting impact on our local watershed and community. Their ongoing efforts to remove tires, plastics, fishing lines, and other debris from Bloomsburg’s community creek showcase their commitment to environmental conservation, water quality, and recreational opportunities. Their dedication not only helps preserve the health of our waterways but also creates a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable space for outdoor recreation, fostering community well-being and environmental sustainability. It was truly inspiring to meet these eco-heroes and learn about their passion for watershed preservation and community engagement. I look forward to joining them on their next creek cleanup float on September 7th, eager to witness their energy and dedication firsthand. The Bloomsburg Community Creek Cleanup exemplifies the power of volunteers in promoting environmental stewardship and enhancing our quality of life. Their work is a shining example of how grassroots efforts can help protect and revitalize our local watershed while enriching our community’s outdoor recreation opportunities.

Connie Donlin of Berwick Arts Association was selected for the Good Neighbor award because of her work to beautify Berwick. She is the founder and current Executive Director of that organization. Connie’s passion springs from a vision of developing community pride and shedding some negative labels that have been pinned to the Berwick community. The Berwick Arts Association started as a grassroots effort to beautify her hometown, and she soon found the effort “soul filling.” Along the way she collaborated with other community members who shared her vision and found that there is a lot of good in Berwick. Collaboration with the community is what has propelled Connie’s efforts to make sure artists are able to display their art and get paid. It was great sitting with Connie to hear her excitement about future projects, her efforts navigating the grant process, and where she sees Bewick Arts Association in the future. I highly encourage you to find and enjoy the art Connie and area artists have made happen in Berwick. Some examples can be found at the Elks BPO Berwick Lodge (Veteran’s mural), Nationwide River Wall (River Oyster Project), Euclid Alley murals, and the Poppy Project on Front Street, and many more. Thank you so much for being a Good Neighbor, Connie!
